James McKeon

James studied at Chethams’s School of Music in Manchester and Christ’s College, Cambridge where he was the organ scholar. During his time at Cambridge he performed extensively as an organist and conductor both in the UK and around the world. He also participated in a wide range of theatre productions as musical director both within the university and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Most recently James was Musical Director on the record-breaking production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium.

Prior to this he was the Production Musical Director on Boy George’s Taboo in the West End, also providing additional musical and vocal arrangements. Other credits include Musical Director for Closer to Heaven by Pet Shop Boys and Jonathan Harvey at the Arts Theatre and the Bridewell’s 10th Anniversary production of Stephen Sondheim’s Passion. He was Assistant Musical Director on the most recent UK tour of Cats.

James also performed at the Royal Albert Hall playing keyboards for the 20th Anniversary Reunion Concert of Boy George and Culture Club.
